The Power of Music, Blueberries, and Siberian Jays

The Power of Music, Blueberries, and Siberian Jays

Luosto probably has the world’s only concert hall where you can enjoy the power of music while picking blueberries directly from your seat.

“Luosto sounds in harmony with nature. Here, you can be exactly who you are.”

The Sounds of Luosto Festival is held every August in the magnificent fell landscape of Lapland.

The festival started as a crazy idea, a dream which has grown into a unique cultural event. It brings local residents and tourists from Finland and further afield to the embrace of the fells, the banks of the ancient Kitinen river, and concert venues that reflect the history of the region. You can come to this festival straight from a hike, just as you are, and forget about fussing over what to wear.

The Siberian jay—that curious and sociable bird of the north—may hop onto a branch next to you to say hello. The moment reminds you of the essence of the festival: a union of nature and music that speaks to visitors in a unique way.

Sitting in the outdoor auditorium on the slopes of Ukko-Luosto, you can enjoy an unforgettable symphonic experience, where the whisper of the wind, the echoes of the fells, and the forces of nature merge with the sounds of the orchestra. The festival is a tribute to the harmony of nature and music, as melodies carried across the landscape blend with the sounds and silence of nature.

The music at the Sounds of Luosto festival is high quality, lively, moving, and even a little unconventional. The festival not only brings music to nature, it allows nature to live and breathe through music. People, nature, and culture merge into one story – a story that will remain in your heart long after the festival is over.
