Annika Valkeajoki, cello

Cellist Annika Valkeajoki works as an alternating solo cellist of the Jyväskylä Sinfonia, and has also performed with several other orchestras including the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. She holds a Master of Music degree from the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki, where she studied under Tuomas Ylinen. She has continued her studies at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm with Kati Raitinen as well as as an exchange student at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg in the class of Sebastian Klinger. 

As a chamber and orchestral musician, Annika has performed at various festivals, including the Kumaus Festival, the Urkuyö ja Aaria Festival, and the Enescu Festival. During the autumn season 2024 she appeared as a soloist with the Jyväskylä Sinfonia with conductor Okko Kamu.

Annika has premiered chamber music works by composers such as Kalevi Aho and Mikko Nisula. She has been also awarded Järnåker foundation’s scholarship.
