Sounds of Luosto again at the beginning of August, 2026

The Sounds of Luosto music festival will return to the fells of Lapland on Luosto, Pyhä, and in the city of Sodankylä from August 6 to 9, 2026. The theme for this year is Music of Travel, and there will be ten concerts.

In addition to musical experiences, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and unique concert venues shaped by nature. The main concert on Saturday, August 8 will be held on the slopes of Ukko-Luosto, and one of the concerts on Friday, August 7 will take place on the stunning rocky stage of Aittakuru. The more than 330-year-old log church in Sodankylä, one of the oldest wooden churches in Finland, will once again be used for concerts.

The program includes a diverse selection of solo, orchestral, and chamber music, works from the Renaissance to the present day, both familiar and lesser-known.

The concerts explore famous journeys and musical souvenirs, reflect on the emotions of setting out on a new path, and examine composers at crossroads. One concert will also mark the end of an extensive musical journey through Beethoven’s piano sonatas, which began in Sodankylä in 2018.

The program and performers will be announced in early February 2026, when ticket sales will also begin. In addition to the orchestra performing in the main concert, various chamber ensembles will feature interesting top-level musicians of the younger generation who have made significant careers in Finland and internationally.

The festival also includes free ancillary events, such as pop-up performances around the Pyhä and Luosto fells and in Sodankylä, as well as morning presentations introducing the festival program.

The event is organized by the Sodankylä-based music association Kuusikko soi ry, and the artistic director of the festival is conductor Aku Sorensen.
