Violinist Sebastian Silén is an active soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral performer. He has studied in Switzerland, Sweden, and Finland, completing two master’s degrees and currently finalising doctoral studies in artistic research at the Sibelius Academy, Helsinki.

Silén has won prizes in national and international competitions and has performed as a soloist with orchestras in Finland and Switzerland, including on tour in Italy. He has appeared in festivals and concerts across Europe and the USA. 

His debut CD with pianist Martin Malmgren features works by Fredrik Pacius, Robert Kajanus, and Jean Sibelius, and he has collaborated with Fennica Gehrman to publish newly edited sheet music of these previously unpublished works. 

Additionally, he has published several peer-reviewed articles. His upcoming releases include a CD of the complete works for violin and piano by Finnish-born Jewish composer Moses Pergament.

As an orchestral musician, Silén has worked with major ensembles in Finland, Sweden, and Switzerland, including as 3rd Concertmaster of the Tampere Philharmonic and 1st Concertmaster of Norrlandsoperans Symphony Orchestra. He also portrayed Jean Sibelius in the 2015 documentary The Forgotten Music of Sibelius, produced in collaboration with the Finnish Broadcasting Company (Yle), SVT, and DR. He plays a violin by Stefan-Peter Greiner.
