The next Sounds of Luosto festival will take place 31.7.-3.8.2025 on Luosto, Pyhä and in Sodankylä. The theme of the year will be “light”.
The programme explores light as a constant of life and physics from as many perspectives as possible. There will be suns and moons, light and shadows, well-known masterpieces and new gems.
The festival will feature a wide range of orchestral and chamber music concerts. In addition to newer and lesser-heard works, the programme will also include familiar classics.
Saturday’s main concert will take place on the Ukko-Luosto open-air stage. Other great Lappish concert venues include the old and atmospheric log church in Sodankylä and the Porttikoski stage on the banks of the River Kitinen. There will also be new and interesting concert venues.
In addition to these performances, there will be free morning presentations explaining the background to the concerts, the composers and their styles. Before the festival proper starts, musicians will meet the public in pop-up performances, bringing music to the heart of people’s everyday lives.
The festival’s artistic director is conductor Aku Sorensen.
The festival programme and performers will be published in February 2025 and tickets will go on sale at the same time.
