Emma Mustaniemi is a soprano from Joensuu, Finland. She graduated from the Sibelius Academy’s Opera Department under Margareta Haverinen Brandt, from Oulu University of Applied Sciences as a music teacher under Soile Isokoski and has completed her Master of Music studies at the Royal Danish Conservatory in Copenhagen under Hanna Hjort.
Mustaniemi works as an opera singer at the Finnish National Opera and last sang the role of The Shepherdess in The Ostrobothnians in autumn of 2024. She has been heard in roles such as Pamina, Doralice, Giannetta, Vespetta, Despina, Ida and Aino. She has sung as soprano soloist in oratorios and concerts and has premiered several works. Mustaniemi sang in the final of the 2019 Timo Mustakallio Song Contest and was one of the participants in the 2024 Mirjam Helin Song Contest.
In her spare time, Mustaniemi writes poetry, shops in Facebook recycling groups and occasionally gets inspired to bake. She finds inspiration for her performances in the people around her, Gustav Klimt’s paintings, the starry sky and nature.
